I believe this boils down to the same question I asked a couple of days ago.
Alfonso prepared a patch to allow manual changes to be made to the colorscale (see his response to:
Color Bar Limits - Connectivity RIng scaling: July 11)
but trying it out, I find it doesn't result in the colors of the connections being rescaled as I think would be expected.
